Kim Britov

Born in 1925 in Sobinka in Vladimir region.
In 1945, at the age of twenty he entered the third year n the Mstiora Art and Desighn School.
Since 1948 he visits an art studio of professor N. P. Sychev in Vladimir, there he worked with his teacher and watched him. The professor opened for the young artist the forbidden icon painting, including the famous"Stroganov painting". In the same 1948 year Kim firstly exhibited his artworks at the regional art exhibition.
In 1954 he became a member of the Soviet Artitsts Union. In 1957 he took part in All-Union Art Exhibition in Moscow for the first time. In 1975 the first personal exhibition of Kim Britov took place.
In 1978 he was awarded with the title "Honoured Artist of the RSFSR". He actively participated in numerous exhibitions in Chechoslovakia, Finland, Korea, France and other countries. In 1995 he was awarded with the title "People's Artist of Russia".
Honorary citizen of the Vladimir city, Kim Britov was awarded with the Gold Medal of the Academy of Arts in Russia, Pushkin Gold Medal, also he is a laureate of picturesque Prize by Isaak Levitan.
The artist has taken part in more than 220 exhibitions in our country and abroad. He has painted about 4000 paintings. Since 1996 some of his artworks are exhibited in State Tretyakov Gallery.
