The history of mosaic dates back to the 2nd half of 4th millennium BC. - The time of construction of palaces and temples in the Sumerian cities of Mesopotamia. The art of mosaic reached its heyday in the Antiquity epoch.

Roman mosaics - rises in ancient Rome, in those days mosaic was a skilful adorment of aristocratic mansions and important municipal institutions. It was a modular mosaic, the size of modules varieted from 0.5 cm to 2 cm. Applying this technique specialists use natural stones (different sorts of marble, lazurite, jasper).
